Former multi-division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko appeared on Saturday's DAZN broadcast in San Antonio and announced his comeback. Lomachenko said, "One day when I woke up, I thought, now I am 38 years old and I'm willing to try one more time to become undisputed champion. If I wait until I am 40 or 41 years old, it will be too late. That's why I made the decision to come back... 135 pounds is not my natural weight. Now I am back but it will be at 130 pounds, my natural weight." Lomachenko's last fight was a lightweight win over ex-champ George Kambosos in May 2024 that brought him the vacant IBF world title. There was talk of Lomachenko fighting Tank Davis after that, but it never materialized.
Lomachenko (24-3 including the World Series of Boxing) does not yet have any concrete fight plans, telling DAZN, "next year I will fight and will check on my condition... Nobody knows what will happen after one or two months more of preparation, but right now everything is good."
