Kevin Lerena W12 Mariusz Wach... In Johannesburg, South Africa's Kevin Lerena continued his journey up the heavyweight rankings with a twelve-round unanimous decision win over Poland's Mariusz Wach. Official scores were 120-108 (twice) and 118-110 for the southpaw Lerena, a former IBO cruiserweight title holder who is now 28-1 overall. Lerena had youth on his side, as he is 30 years old compared to 43 for Wach, but Lerena was at a huge height and weight disadvantage against Wach (36-9).

 

Lusanda Kominisi W12 Tshifhiwa Munyai ... On the same show, Lusanda Kominisi (26-6) won the South African lightweight championship, wresting the laurels from Tshifhiwa Munyai (35-7-1) with a twelve-round unanimous decision win. Reports said the fight was both grueling and entertainig, with Kominisi prevailing by scores of 115-112, 114-113 and 117-110. Komanisi had to overcome adversity for the title win, as he was hit behind the neck and sunk to the canvas n round seven, only to have the referee rule it to be a knockdown.
