Lee Baxter Promotions has signed an exclusive Canadian output deal with FightZone TV, a streaming service for international boxing. Under the deal, Lee Baxter Promotions will stage shows across Canada as the exclusive provider of Canadian content for the FightZone TV platform. The service is available for $8.99 a month for Canadian subscribers, and will give fans access to FightZone TV’s weekly international bouts, as well as the eight Canadian events to be presented over the next year. The first Canadian show is being planned for later this year. The shows will primarily be staged on Sunday afternoons, to best accommodate both the Canadian and European audiences.
“We are proud to partner with FightZone TV and finally be able to bring Canadian boxing to an accessible global platform,” said Lee Baxter. “The domestic scene in the UK and Europe has always been the gold standard for us in Canada. The way fans follow fighters from their beginnings, the value placed on domestic and Commonwealth titles, and the pipeline for success that creates. Having a broadcast outlet makes building that in Canada possible, and now fans across the world will see that we have the talent in this country to do it.”
Lee Baxter Promotions is based in Toronto but will be expanding across the country. “There are massive boxing fanbases on both the east and west coast here in Canada, but unless you live there, you wouldn’t know it. We want to be able to showcase those markets, and give fighters from those underserved provinces opportunities to become stars on a global stage as well,” said Baxter.
“For too long boxing has had an obsession with putting everything on a Saturday night, and you have a logjam of content fans have to choose from. Back in the day, big fights were on different days of the week, including Sunday afternoons, and we want to bring that back,” said Baxter.
