Leavander Johnson to be honored in AC!

Press Release:  On Friday, September 22,  2006 the City Council of Atlantic City, New Jersey will hold an official street naming ceeremony in remembrance of its valiant boxer and hometown hero Leavander Johnson,  IBF lightweight champion who died tragically from ring injuries exactly one year earlier. Leavander was promoted by DiBella Entertainment during his championship run.  The ceremony will also include the unveiling of a plaque and renaming of the gym where Johnson trained. The events will be held in the Police Athletic League Building, located at 250 North New York Avenue (between New York and Mediterranean Avenues) in Atlantic City at 12:00 noon. Councilman at Large Eugene Robinson, City of Atlantic City, will preside over the ceremony.  Leavander’s father Bill, who was the fighter’s trainer, mother Vivian, and brothers Craig, who was Leavander’s manager, and Cade, will be at the ceremonies along with other members of the Johnson family. DBE president Lou DiBella, vice president David Itskowitch, and other members of the DBE staff will also be in attendance at the dedication.
