Lazcano KOs Burton in nine

Compiled By Scott Shaffer

Juan Lazcano KO9 Courtney Burton... Juan Lazcano has now made it two wins in a row in the 140-pound category after a year away from the ring.  On the Solo Boxeo main event from Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, Lazcano knocked Courtney Burton out in the ninth round by backing him into a corner and landing a barrage of hard punches that put Burton on the seat of his pants for a ten count. Lazcano improves to 35-3-1 while Burton, 21-5, has lost three in a row with a lot of very tough wars in the last three years.

Jose Hernandez W10 Armando Cordoba... In the Solo Boxeo telecast opener, junior lightweight Jose Hernandez had a tough time with Armando Cordoba but pulled out a victory by scores of 96-93 (twice) and 95-94. Hernandez, whose record is a padded 19-2, looked like he was on his way to an easy win when he decked Cordoba in the second round. Cordoba got up and did well in the middle rounds, particularly the fifth, when he landed several hard shots. Hernandez was able to pull himself together for a strong final two rounds that earned him the win. Cordoba has wins over two men who held world titles, Vicente Mosquera and Antonio Cermeno, but nowadays he is reduced to the role of a trialhorse. He put forth a solid effort tonight, but with ten losses in his last eleven bouts, his once-respectable record drops to a ruined 21-20-2. Still, this was a career-best win for Hernnadez so far.  source: Solo Boxeo on Telefutura
