Late Result: Frank beats Hernandez on low blow DQ!

The main event at The Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio featured a good match-up between Raul Frank and Fernando Hernandez for a vacant regional middleweight title.  This bout went six rounds with Frank dominating but Hernandez managing to stay competitive early.  But by the time the sixth came around, Hernandez appeared be to exhausted and began to land low blows which caused him to be disqualified making Raul Frank the winner.  Promoter Square Ring also showcased new talent that included two brothers who both have an entertaining fight style. The Bey Brothers out of Cleveland Ohio have prominent amateur backgrounds and have now made a professional championship their goal. The two of them made their pro debut last night.  Cortez Bey beat David Maund by first-round knockout and Mickey Bey got the same result over Shane Gierke.  In other action, 6’6” Vonda Ward, holder of the IBA women’s heavyweight title continued to rebuild her career after a devastating  loss to Ann Wolfe last year. Ward competed against Elizabeth Kerin in a bout that went two rounds.  Both women were aggressive but Ward was the better puncher.  Kerin knocked Ward down in the first round but Ward came back to land enough punches to win the bout by second-round knockout.
Editor's note: 2000 Olympic silver medalist Ricardo Williams was also on the card, fighting in a preliminary bout.  With drug charges hanging over him, the former HBO fighter knocked out Ian Smith in three. source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
