Former world heavyweight champion Larry Holmes delivered perhaps one of the greatest induction speeches ever at the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York over the weekend. Holmes thanked everyone from his sparring partners to his wife Diane for helping him reach the highest pinnacle in the sport, if not in all of sports. His speech deftly mixed humor - Holmes made cracks about George Foreman's grills- with more serious points. He told the crowd all of us should never judge anyone by the color of their skin, adding that half his family was white, and he advised everyone not to listen when someone tells you you can't acheive something. Holmes said there were lots of people in his life that told him he would never succeed. However, his championship reign, his successful business career after boxing and his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame have proved Larry Holmes' doubters wrong time and time again.
