Lacy: "I'm going to knock Calzaghe out!"

Undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Jeff "Left-Hook" Lacy told Boxingtalk.com, "I'm going to be fighting Robin Reid on August 6, probably in St. Pete's and then I'm going to look to unify titles."   The unification Lacy is referring to it a showdown with undefeated WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe, the man perceived as 168-pounder in the world. Lacy is hopeful that he's going to be fighting Calzaghe before the end of the year. Lacy plans to join Zab Judah and Luis Collazo (and perhaps the  heavily favored Kostya Tszyu and Floyd Mayweather) as part of 2005's home-wreckers. "When I said I would fight him in England, I wasn't thinking about a decision, I'm going to knock Calzaghe out."

"Fighting (Calzaghe) on Showtime makes me feel a lot more comfortable about fighting over there, but I still don't want the fight to go the distance  in his backyard.

"I have a strong team (Gary Shaw, Jim Wilkes) around me but I know they want to see me knock him out too.  I want to unify the division and I'm looking to work my way from the top on down."

Ironically, Lacy must have a successful homecoming before he attempts to join the home-wreckers. Robin Reid, a significant step-up from Lacy's last two opponents,  proved his worth against former unified super middleweight champion Sven Ottke, who retired undefeated. In short, Reid is not one to be taken lightly.

"I never take anyone lightly. I just have certain goals for myself and I'm going to be training harder than ever to make sure I reach them in impressive fashion."

Boxingtalk will have much more to follow with Lacy so stay tuned.
