Korobov initially given win over Aleem; result changed to draw

Barrios stops Velasco with body shot in 2!

Matt Korobov D10 Immanuwel Aleem: VERDICT CHANGED TO A DRAW AFTER THE FIGHT. Here is PBC's explanation of the changed result: What was announced as a majority decision for Korobov was later changed to a majority draw. Korobov (28-2-1, 14 KOs), a Russian now living in St. Petersburg, Fla., and trying to get back into the title picture, was named the winner but it all turned sour when it was discovered that the announced 96-95 score in favor of Korobov was actually 95-95, and added to another 95-95 score, along with a 97-93 score for Korobov that turned the majority decision into a majority draw.

Boxingtalk's initial write-up:  Russian middleweight Matt Korobov earned a hard fought majority decision win over an extremely game Immanuwel Aleem. Korobov outlanded Aleem early during the feeling out process that was the first three rounds, but then things began to heat up. Aleem went down in the fourth round but the referee appropriately ruled it a slip and warned Korobov for rabbit punching. Korobov landed a beautiful overhand left that nearly dropped Aleem in round six. Korobov would land a few more power shots, but never really came close to get Aleem out of there. For some reason Aleem also fought the majority of the sixth round with tape tangling from his right glove. Aleem had his best round in the eighth when he was able to land a few quality punches with Korobov on the ropes, but the experienced Korobov was still able to pick spots to effectively counter Aleem, primarily with his left uppercut. Aleem (18-2-1 11KO)  hurt Korobov (29-2-1 14KO) with a right hand left hook, followed up by another left hook, but he clearly needed a knockout to win the fight heading into the tenth and final round. By the time the bell rung both to end the fight, both guys were cut, Korobov on his right eye, Aleem on his left, and both guys were exhausted. Aleem clearly won the last three rounds as Korobov began to fade, but it was too little too late and Korobov walked away with a well earned victory. Boxingtalk scored it 97-93. Official scores were 95-95 and 96-95, 97-93.  Source: Fox
