Last Saturday night Andy "Kaos" Kolle (16-1) defeated in-state rival Matt "The Predator" Vanda (37-5) by a unanimous decision in a closely contested middleweight battle. The fight featured a lot of give-and-take action with Kolle taking control for the majority of the first six rounds. Vanda stunned both Kolle and his fans in the seventh round with a huge left hook that put "Kaos" on the canvas for the first time in his career. Kolle finished out the round fine and came back to win the eightth round and cement the biggest win of his career. The judges scores read 77-76 and 77-75 twice. The closeness of the fight leaves a lot of fans hoping for a rematch. If not, look for Kolle to continue working his way to the top by fighting contenders on his current level. If Vanda, who has faced all his MN rivals, decides to take his show on this road, his record will undoubtedly be attractive to many promoters. Boxingtalk scored the bout 77-74 in favor of Kolle.Â
In notable undercard action light heavyweight prospect Phil "The Drill" Williams (6-0) moved his knockout streak to six in a row with a second round stoppage of Quincy Miller. (2-2) Williams had mentioned possible interest in a fight with Minnesota light heavyweight prospect Zach Walters on a card earlier in the year. It was obvious to everyone in attendance that Williams, who is undoubtedly talented, has a ways to go before being considered for a Walters fight. Minnesota boxing fans are excited to see Williams progress over the next couple of years. Fans of both Minnesota light heavyweights can see them in action next month in Hinckley, MN.
