Damian Knyba W12 Andy Ruiz... Ex-heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. showed up at his lightest weight in years (254 pounds) but his two years of inactivity showed, as Poland's Damian Knyba dominated him over twelve rounds in Newark, New Jersey. The 6'7" long-armed Knyba fought a disciplined fight behind his jab. Knyba scored knockdown at the end of the seventh round that looked like it would end the fight. Ruiz got up, and received a very long break from the referee to end the round. Shockingly, Ruiz had his best round of the night in the eighth. But Knyba soon settled back into his rhthym and controlled the last three rounds. It should have been a wide decision on the scorecards but judges Glen Feldman and Kevin Morgan either corruptly or incompetently scored it only 114-113 Knyba. Only Tony Morgan got it right at 117-110. Knyba is now 18-1 and rebounded nicely from his last fight, a stoppage loss to now-WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel. Ruiz falls to 35-3-1 but said he would fight on.
