Wladimir Klitschko TKO7 Lamon Brewster...  In Cologne, Germany, Wladimir Klitschko retained his IBF heavyweight championship by punishing Lamon Brewster with his jab for six rounds. The bout ended when Brewster's trainer Buddy McGirt pulled the plug on the fight before the start of the seventh round. Brewster was not upset by his trainer's decision, and was classy afterwards, calling Klitschko the better man. Although the bout lacked highlight film material, it was one of Klitschko's career best performances. Criticized early in his career for being robotic, Klitschko was as smooth and polished as he has ever been in avenging his prior loss to Brewster. It would have been more exciting if Klitchsko used his vaunted right hand more often, but it is hard to argue with a near-perfect outcome, as Klitschko won every round and wasn't hit very often. At 49-3, Klitschko is probably the best heavyweight on the planet, although the sport desparately needs to see unification between the Klitschko and the three other Eastern European claimants to the world championship. Brewster, 33-4, had not fought in fifteen months, but said afterwards the detached retina that caused his inactivity was not a factor in the outcome. source: HBOÂ
