Klimas: Lomachenko had preexisting shoulder injury

ESPN spoke to Vasiliy Lomachenko's manager, Egis Klimas (pictured), and Klimas disclosed that Lomachenko entered the Teofimo Lopez fight with a preexisting shoulder injury. According to Klimas, the injury worsened during the fight, and Lomachenko has already undergone surgery to repair the shoulder. Lomachenko threw very few punches during the first six rounds of Saturday's fight, and while he rallied in the second half, he fell short, losing a decision and the world lightweight championship to Lopez. According to Klimas, Lomachenko should be able to resume training by mid-January. As for the preexisiting injury's effect on Lomachenko's training camp, Klimas said, "we lost one week of sparring."
