Victor Nagbe W10 Sam Soliman ... Kickboxing star Victor Nagbe (4-0) had his first significant fight as a boxer in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend. Competing as a junior middleweight Nagbe beat Australia’s fighting legend Sam Soliman over ten rounds with a unanimous points decision at the Melbourne Pavilion. Soliman (46-16-1) is now 47 years old but this was still a step up for Nagbe, who won convincingly on points by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94. The sold out contest by Punisher promotions (Phil Eglezos, Pierre Karma and Peter Maniatis) garnered big interest for professional boxing in the southern Australia capital city. An Australian resident of Liberian decent, Nagbe had beaten some of the best professionals in stand-up martial arts including WBC muay thai. He declined an “open door” to the UFC and, instead, welcomed the challenge of making an impact on the world stage of professional boxing. “I’m young enough (27 years old) to make it as a top ranked professional boxer.”
