ESPN Ringside reports that Keyshawn Davis tested positive for marijuana, and his last fight, a victory over Nahir Albright earlier this month has been changed to a no-decision. Marijuana is NOT a performance enhancing substance. According to the report, Davis has been suspended by the Texas boxing commission for ninety days.An Olympic silver medal winner in 2021, the ruling drops Davis' pro record down to 9-0. The win over Albright was Davis' toughest as a pro. He won the lightweight bout via majority decision win over Albright (16-3, 7 KOs).
After a battle of jabs in the opening round of that fight, Davis found a home for his right hand, sneaking it over Albright’s shoulder throughout the fight. Davis also counterpunched Albright with right and left hands, which made Albright less eager to throw punches down the stretch. Davis, however, eased up in the final two rounds, allowing Albright to narrow the scorecards. It was not enough as one judge scored the fight 95-95, which was overruled by tallies of 96-94 and 97-93 in favor of Davis.
Prior to that, the 24-year-old native of Norfolk, Virginia was being advanced quickly by Top Rank, amassing wins over Richman Ashelley (10-1), Esteban Sanchez (10-1), Omar Tineda (25-5), former world title challenger Juan Carlos Burgos (35-6-3), former world title challenger Anthony Yigit (26-2) and a ten-round unanimous decision over former European champion Francisco Patera (28-3) on July 22nd in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
