Kevin Lerena, a former bridgerweight champion and fringe heavyweight contender, will begin a new chapter in his career on November 7th when he heads back to cruiserweight to face Scott Forrest (8-3) at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa. The bout will be broadcast live on SuperSport. The South African Lerena (31-5) is looking to rebuild momentum after losing the WBC bridgerweight title to Ryad Merhy by decision in May. At 34, his return to cruiserweight offers an opportunity to compete once again in a familiar division where he built a significant part of his career.
To make that return, Lerena has focused his preparation on reaching the division’s weight limit while maintaining his physical condition. His goal is to secure a victory that brings him closer to another world title opportunity.
Standing across the ring will be Scott Forrest, who was born in Johannesburg and represents Scotland. Forrest brings an accomplished amateur background: he was a nine-time national champion, competed for Team GB, and participated in the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games, as well as the amateur world championships.
