Ken Shiro strikes "Lightning" Taconing in four

Ken Shiro TKO4 Jonathan Taconing... In the Osaka, Japan chief supporting bout, WBC 108-pound champion Kenshiro Teraji a/k/a Ken Shiro stopped Jonathan "Lightning" Taconing of the Philippines in round four. Shiro had Taconing's face cut in several places when a combination floored the challenger. Taconing got up quickly, clear eyed but wobbly legged, and the referee stopped the bout without resuming the action. Taconing had never been stopped before, and he protested that the referee ended this bout prematurely. It likely would not have made a difference in the result, but Taconing could have continued. Shiro is now 16-0 with 9 KOs, while Taconing drops to 28-4-1, including two other world title losses. source: kyodo news agency; fight video
