Kelvin Davis Announces Retirement

The Boxingtalk Scoreboard

Eric Fields TKO1 Kelvin Davis... Cruiserweight prospect Eric “Danger” Fields lived up to his moniker with a first-round demolition of former titlist Kelvin Davis Friday night in Key West, Florida. Davis was dropped seconds into the bout by a right, and arose to be stunned by a wicked right uppercut-left hook combo shortly thereafter. With Fields piling on the punishment, the ref wisely pulled the hook on the bout. Fields ups his ledger to 11-0  with 9KOs while the gutsy Davis slips to 24-8-2 with 17 KOs. “Koncrete” Kelvin Davis has now lost four bouts in a row. Afterwards, an emotional Davis announced his retirement. Plagued by bad luck (a broken neck in a freak accident last year) and the corruption of the sport (the IBF stripped him of its cruiserweight championship because he got into a dispute with his former promoter Don King), Davis is a true warrior whose excitement will be missed. source: espn2 friday night fights

Randall Bailey TKO5 Adrian Mora... In the ESPN Friday Night Fights co-feature, former junior welterweight titlist Randall Bailey made the home state fans happy with a fifth-round stoppage of Adrian Mora.  Bailey was looking for the home run punch early on, and in the fourth he stunned Mora with a right before a follow-up flurry dropped the Colorado visitor. Another Bailey right decked Mora in the fifth, leading to the stoppage.  Official time was 2:30. Bailey, a native of  Miami, improves to 36-6 with 33 KOs. Mora, who was returning from a 22 month layoff, is 15-2 with 10 KOs. source: espn2 friday night fights
