GL: BoxingTalk.com here with undefeated mandatory middleweight challenger, Kelly Pavlic. Big fight coming up on the 29th, the moment you've been waiting for. can you give us some thoughts on what we can expect to see from you that night? "I gaurantee you, I'm going to make the best of it. I've been waiting, like you said 7 years for this, pretty much my whole life, since I started boxing. We're going to bring the fight to him, we're going to come in and put on a show."Â
GL: Based on the decisions that you've seen Taylor recieve, do you feel that you have to knock him out in order to win this fight?KP: No, not at all. Plus, you never know what Taylor's going to come with. He seems like he has something to prove. We'll see once he takes a punch from me, once I land one of my punches. He hasn't been in there with an active middleweight who can hit. We'll see how he adapts to it, and if he can make any changes.
GL: You made quite a statement against Miranda in your last fight. How do you build off of that for September 29th?KP: We're working on a couple of things, we always go back to the drawing board. Miranda was a big win, but we're working on a few more things. We finely tuned ourselves, and you can't get in much better shape than we were in for that fight. We're going to do pretty much the same thing, and a little bit more.
GL: You said you don't feel you have to knock him out to win the fight. Do you feel the fight will go the distance? KP: You know, I don't ever pick that. I just go out there and throw a lot of punches, if the knockout comes, it comes. I'm always trained for the decision. If it goes to the decision, I know that I'm going to be aggressive, win points. There were a lot of guys he fought, Bernard Hopkins was in his 40's, Winky Wright was in his mid-30's. These guys were done, their careers were pretty much done. It's no wonder why Jermaine Taylor got the decision, because he's the new up-and-commer.Â
GL: What does becomming the undisputed middleweight champion of the world mean to you?KP: Everything, it's a dream, it will be a dream come true. It's not far away, September 29th, that's the day it's going to happen.
GL: Based on the fact that you worked your way into the madatory position, do you have a problem with the re-match clause that's been instituted for the re-match to happen at 168, in the event that you win?KP: To a point, yeah. I don't think everything is final yet on that part, it's still being negotiated. We'll see what happens with that.
GL:Â Is there anything you'd like to say to the fans in closing?KP:Â Stay tuned, it's going to be a good one.
