Keenan Collins headlines in Lancaster, PA

Takes road assignment vs. Doel Carrasquillo

Press Release: Welterweight Keenan Collins, 12-1-1 with 8 KOs, is slated to box on February 23, 2007 in hostile territory against Lancaster, Pennsylvania's own Doel Carrasquillo, 8-4-1 with 6 KOs at Lancaster Host.  Fighting out of Reading, PA, Collins has one of the longest reaches in the welterweight division and is trained by Marshall Kauffman at Kings Gym. Keenan says he has been puttin in long hours at the gym. "I've been sparring 10, 4 minute rounds with 30 second breaks and then we've been sparring 8, 4 minute rounds with 15 second breaks." With an 80 inch reach, Keenan Collins has the natural physical attributes that even certain heavyweights lack.  While receiving guidance from  trainer/manager Kauffman at King's Gym, Keenan has gotten excellent sparring opportunities.  "He has been in with Kermit Cintron for a big part of his learning and he has been in with Yusaf Mack, Tarvis Simms, Joshua Clottey, and Miguel Cotto," explained Kauffman.  "So Collins has come a long way and I think if he continues to stay focused he can make his mark in boxing.  I would not hesitate to move Keenan to 154 lbs if the fight is right because of his 6 foot frame." With 8 knockouts in 12 fights, and dropping his last 3 opponents, Collins' power shows the promise of a legitimate 147lb contender. Â
