Katsuma Akitsugi risks undefeated record tonight in Florida

Japanese bantamweight Katsuma Akitsugi (10-0, 1 KO) squares off against all-action Mexican Jesus Ramirez (22-3-3, 16 KOs) tonight (Wednesday) in a fight that could see the winner move on to a world title challenge. Akitsugi, now based out of Los Angeles, enters after knocking off three undefeated opponents in his last four outings. Ramirez returns after losing an intense battle with world-rated Ramon Cardenas as he looks to put himself back in contention for a big fight. The action takes place at the Pro Box Events Center in lant City, Florida.

In the co-feature, Nicklaus Flaz (12-2, 8 KOs) takes on a late replacement, Mexican-American Alfredo Escarcega (15-1-1, 7 KOs) after original opponent Peter Dobson pulled out with no reason given.

Also on the show, Najee Lopez (10-0, 6 KOs) returns to the ring against fellow puncher Steven Sumpter (9-0, 7 KOs). Lopez enters the contest with a perceived better skill set, but one punch can change everything in the light heavyweight division, and Sumpter comes in with major knockout power.

Filipino hopeful Weljon Mindoro (11-0-1, 11 KOs) makes his US debut against former Bareknuckle Boxing title challenger Tyler Goodjohn (13-5, 4 KOs), in what should be an interesting contest.
