Tickets for the WBC heavyweight title collision between homeland hero Agit Kabayel and Albanian KO-artist Nelson Hysa on Saturday November 28th go on sale today (Tuesday October 6). The heavyweight headliner, which is Kabayel’s first defence of his WBC world title, will take place at the 55,000 capacity Merkur Spiel Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, which is a short hop from the Bochum home of the champion. The pre-sale numbers indicate that fans will have to move quickly to secure a seat under the roof of the stadium that is home to Fortuna Dusseldorf because over 30,000 tickets were sold during this limited period and demand remains high.
Kabayel made a successful return to fighting in his home country in January when he stopped the previously undefeated Damian Knyba in the third round in front of a sold out Rudolf Weber Arena in Oberhausen. Previously, the hugely popular Kabayel, who was honoured recently by his home city for his sporting exploits, registered top level victories over Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez and Zhilei Zhang, taking the unbeaten record of the first two.
Hysa is making a big noise too and he enjoys stardom of his own in his home country. All but two of his wins have come via KO and his most recent success came against Thomas Narmo on the undercard of the Hrgovic-Itauma world title card in London. The 42-year-old registered a second round stoppage. Following his KO, Hysa confronted Kabayel at ringside to demand a shot at the WBC title and he gets his wish on Albanian Independence Day.
