KARMAZIN DEFEATS OUMA

Roman Karmazin W12 Kassim Ouma... It turned out to be a night "Made In Hell" for Kassim Ouma as Roman Karmazin lived up to his nickname to take the IBF junior middleweight title from the highly regarded Ouma. Although Karmazin was not really a known commodity in America, experts knew he was not to be taken lightly (he entered the bout rated #7 by Boxingtalk).  The third round was pivotal as Kramazin knocked Ouma down twice in the first minute, and arguably a third time, although it was officially counted as a slip. Ouma survived the third and fought competitively the rest of the way, but Karmazin took the fight to the man that most junior middleweights have avoided like the Ebola virus. The official scores were 118-108, 117-109 and 116-110.  At 32 years old, it took a while, but Karmazin has finally fulfilled the glowing reports coming out of his native Russia and must now be considered an A level fighter. He is now 25-1-1 with the loss and the draw both coming in Spain, a nation notorious for hometown decisions.  The loss came against Javier Castillejo in 2002, the draw vs.  now-retired Javier Martinez in 1996. source: Boxeo De Oro on HBO Latino

Marco Antonio Rubio TKO2 David Toribio... On the same show at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas, Marco Antonio Rubio dropped David Toribio twice in the second round to win by technical knockout. Its true that Toribio was previously unbeaten, but all of his pro wins came at the expense of a handful of bums in the Dominican Republic and it showed in the ring against the more experienced Rubio, now 26-2-1. Rubio snuck in a short right hand that sent Toribio sprawling. Toribio got up, but hadn't recovered when Rubio landed a combination highlighted by an uppercut that ended the bout. source: Boxeo De Oro on HBO Latino
