Julio breaks Kamya's jaw!

PRESS RELEASE: Just one day removed from his 21st birthday, undefeated welterweight Joel Julio (26-0, 23 KO's) twice dropped Kamya before a left hook sent Kamya face first to the canvas for the third and final time of the bout. The referee immediately waved a halt to the bout at the 1:32 mark of the round (TKO 3). Kamya remained on the canvas for approximately five minutes after the final knockdown, and was then taken to the hospital to repair a broken jaw and undergo a series of head tests. He passed those exams and was released Saturday evening. Julio shattered Kamya's jaw despite having to wear ten ounce gloves instead of eight ounce gloved because the contract weight for the bout was over 150 pounds. Julio is expected to return to the ring on February 25 on the Fernando Vargas-Shane Mosley pay-per-view showdown at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
