"I have to beat everybody up and become the mandatory. Right now I’m ranked #2, and hopefully in 6 months I’ll be #1."
BoxingTalk: Julio, you have a fight against Rodney Moore. How did preparation for this fight go?
Julio Gonzalez: It went pretty good. I’m well prepared, I feel confident for my fight against Rodney Moore, and I am ready for the unexpected.
BoxingTalk:Â What do you know about your opponent, and what kind of fight do you expect from him?
Julio Gonzalez: I don’t know much about him. I am walking into the ring with the mentality that he will be the toughest guy I have ever faced. I’m going to come out and see what happens in the first couple rounds, and hopefully I’ll use my solid boxing skills, and win the fight.
BoxingTalk: This is your first fight in 2006. Is the layoff due to your efforts to get a rematch with Clinton Woods?
Julio Gonzalez: Exactly. I was just trying to get a rematch with Clinton Woods, but Glen Johnson got the fight. Now I am focused for this fight.
BoxingTalk:Â I know you are planning to come away with the win from this fight, but what can we expect from you next?
Julio Gonzalez: We are going to sit down and see what my manager has planned for me, then we’ll see what the results are of Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson fight.
BoxingTalk:Â What do you feel you will have to do to get back into contention for the light heavyweight title?
Julio Gonzalez: I just need to look good and win this fight coming up. I have to beat everybody up and become the mandatory. Right now I’m ranked #2, and hopefully in 6 months I’ll be #1.
BoxingTalk:Â Do you feel you will need to get a knockout win on Thursday to prove that you are worthy of a title shot in the near future?
Julio Gonzalez: Not necessarily. I just need to look good and win. It helps a lot if I get the knockout and look impressive, but the main thing is to get the win.
