Judd Burstein sued in $70 million malpractice lawsuit

Noted New York Boxing attorney Judd Burstein is being sued for $70 million dollars by a former client in New York court. It is not a boxing-related lawsuit, but the notice filed with the court alleges that Burstein accepted $4 million in legal fees and missed the filing deadline. In a complicated case involving an elderly and now deceased man named C. Robert Allen, Allen was allegedly conned into investing $70 million to buy radio stations, but the men he gave the money to never bought any radio stations and issued fake financial statements to Allen. Eventually, Allen hired a law firm named Cohen & Gresser to sue the two men, but Cohen & Gresser lost the suit.  Burstein was then hired to sue Cohen & Gresser for malpractice, but according to this week's court papers, Burstein failed to file the lawsuit before the statute of limitations ran out. So now Burstein is charged with malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty. In boxing, Burstein was most famous for winning a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Don King on behalf of former champion Terry Norris. At the time, Burstein bragged, "Don King is a cancer on boxing and I am the cure."
