Juarez wins easy over Medrano

Results from Kinder, Louisiana

Rocky Juarez TKO4 Backlin Medrano… Featherweight contender Rocky Juarez continued his comeback, winning his second straight bout following an upset loss to Humberto Soto in August 2005. In Kinder, Lousiana on Saturday, Juarez drubbed Indiana’s Backlin Medrano over four rounds. It was good action throughout, but Medrano could not handle the ex-silver medalist’s power. All told, Medrano was dropped five times, leading his co-trainer Christy Martin to throw in the towel in round four. Juarez, Boxingtalk’s #7 featherweight, moves to 25-1 and with another big opportunity most likely not too far away. Medrano drops to 9-3. Undercard... Jose Diaz won a featherweight six-rounder that featured toe-to-toe action throughout. Diaz won by 60-54 on all three cards but the bout seemed a little closer and more exciting than the scores showed.  Hernandez fought through an injurd and possibly broken hand from the first round on...Wendy Rodriguez won a regional 108-pound belt with a controversial split technical decision over Carina Moreno. The bout was stopped after six rounds due to a head butt and it was decided on the scorecards.... In light heavyweight action, Chris Henry defeated Shannon Miller in the first round by knocking Miller down three times... In a super middleweight bout,  Akondaye Fountain stopped Veronica Rucker by first-round technical knockout... Middleweight Genaro Alarcon dropped Curtis Hinton three times in round one to win by automatic knockout.
