In front of 15,000 fans in Houston cheering for Rocky Juarez, Texas, Jorge Rodrigo Barrios survived two point deductions for low blows, but could not survive a gruesome torn lip. Juarez weathered Barrios' storm and scored a spectacular come-from-behind, eleventh round technical knockout of Barrios. This was a battle of inactive junior lightweights. Juarez had been out of the ring for ten months and Barrios had not fought in 18 months, but Barrios was well conditioned and set a torrid pace. He was credited with throwing a mind-blowing 160 punches in round ten by Compubox, but the strategy backfired as Barrios seemed exhausted in round eleven. Juarez hurt Barrios to the body in the eleventh and turned up the heat, causing the blood to flow from Barrios' mouth to increase. A hard combination but Barrios down, and when he got up, blood was pouring from a triangular tear in the corner of his mouth.
