JuanMa Lopez wins unsatisfying bout

Juan Manuel Lopez TKO 10 Hugo Dianzo... Puerto Rican prospect Juan Manuel Lopez had little trouble with Mexican veteran Hugo Dianzo – but failed to impress the Chicago crowd – in winning by unpopular 10th-round TKO. Referee Genaro Hernandez, on the advice of the ringside physician, called a halt to the super bantamweight bout at  1:12 of the tenth after a severe cut opened up on Lopez’s scalp. The blood was flowing freely, and a vivid picture on the AllState Arena JumboTron drew gasps from the crowd. The cut was significant. It opened in the seventh round, and was likely the result of Lopez’s slashing punches. However, those punches failed to so much as daze former world title challenger Dianzo, and the crowd was not happy about that. The fight was a choppy clash of styles and did not entertain. Lopez, 120 ½, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, improved to 18-0 (16 KOs), while Dianzo, 122, Mexico City, who was robbed vs. Paulie Ayala for the IBF bantamweight title back in 2001, fell to 31-12-1 (15 KOs).
