PRESS RELEASE: Jose Perez, Jr., a talented amateur who won a national championship in 2002 and then his first seven pro fights, has decided to take a break from pro boxing and sign up with the Coast Guard.  After losing for the first time, a second-round knockout to Hector Leyva, the junior featherweight will serve his country during this time of war. A multiple-time golden gloves winner, Perez is still just 23, so there is plenty of time for him to return to the sport if he decides to do so.
