Jorge Arce TKO4 Masibulele Makepula... It was an HBO coming out party of sorts for Mexican star Jorge Arce, who delighted the Hidalgo, Texas crowd with a fourth-round technical knockout of Masibulele "Hawk" Makepula. It was a close junior bantamweight fight for two rounds, with Makepula making a good account himself. Towards the end of the third, an Arce left shook up Makepula, and the South African walked slowly back to his corner between rounds. Arce jumped all over Makepula to start the fourth and scored a knockdown while Makepula was looking to clutch and grab. Makepula beat the count, but referee Vic Darchinyan ended the contest. Arce has not lost since 1999 and is now 45-3-1, while Makepula drops to 28-4. The fight was a WBC eliminator, but the WBA also has an interim champion and a champion at 115, so Arce may look for another fight. A mouth-watering possibility for HBO could be Arce against IBF 112-pound champ Vic Darchinyan. source: HBO Boxing After Dark
