Press Release: Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions will present a sensational championship fight card on Friday, January 28, 2005, in the Pend O?reille Pavillion at Northern Quest Casino, located at North 100 Hayford Road in Airway Heights, Washington. The fights will be televised live on ESPN2?s 'Friday Night Fights.'The 12-round main event will feature NABF super welterweight champion ?Smooth? Rodney Jones, 34-3, with 22 knockouts, of Stockton, California, defending the title against Teddy ?Two Gun? Reid, 22-6-1, with 16 knockouts, of Adelphi, Maryland.

Jones, now 36 years old, has won 10 fights in a row, nine by knockout or TKO, spanning back to July, 2001. A veteran lefthanded contender at 154 pounds, he is ranked No. 7 in the world by The Ring, No. 9 by the WBC, and No. 15 by the IBF at jr. middleweight. Reid is an offensive-minded, hard-hitting contender. Now 33 years old, he formerly held the NABF super lightweight and welterweight titles, but is moving up to the super welterweight division for the first time in this fight. He is currently ranked No. 9 by the IBF, and No. 15 by the WBA at 154 pounds.

In the co-featured bout, also scheduled for 12 rounds, WBA Fedelatin featherweight champion Whyber Garcia, 15-2, with 11 knockouts, of Colon, Panama, will unify the title against interim champion Valdemir Pereira, 19-0, with 14 knockouts, of Sao Caetano Do Sul, Brazil. 23-year old Garcia is ranked No. 13 in the world by the WBA. Pereira, now 30 years old, represented Brazil in the 2000 Olympics. He is ranked No. 6 by the IBF, No. 12 by the WBC, and No. 14 by the WBA.
