Natasha Jonas (pictured) and Lauren Price will unify the WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight championships on March 7th at London's Royal Albert Hall, live on Sky Sports. Jonas added the WBC title to her IBF belt in her last fight, which was against Ivana Habazin. Price, defended her WBA championship for the first time last month with a stoppage victory over previously unbeaten Bexcy Mateus. Price, also an Olympic champion, told Jonas directly she expected to win every round of their contest. The Welsh star is yet to drop a round in her professional career, and intends to keep that run going in her next fight. "I believe that," Price told Sky Sports afterwards. She added: "I believe it's my toughest test. It's just another stepping stone. I do believe that I am too good and I'm too quick."
Jonas dismissed that suggestion though. "It doesn't matter until we're in the ring," said Jonas. "She keeps on saying these things. But you're putting pressure on yourself to back it up. You're not going to lose a round? Okay, well what happens when round one goes and you've lost it? What are you going to do then, because you said you weren't going to lose a round? What happens then in round two, three, four, five, six? I would expect [her] to win every round for the opposition that she's had."
Jonas insisted Price's claim actually betrayed a lack of self-confidence. "I think she has to tell herself that to make herself believe it. To be like: 'Right, I've got this,'" the Liverpudlian said. "You're trying to convince yourself. I just think you're geeing yourself up. You're telling yourself: 'I can do it.' That's what I believe she's doing.
