Glen Johnson TKO11 Montell Griffin... Glen Johnson prevailed in a battle of veteran title holders, stopping Montell Griffin in the eleventh round in Hollywood, Florida. Griffin looked slick early on, and may have won the second and third rounds, but had few highlights after that as Johnson turned up his workrate and proved too much for Griffin to handle. Griffin was cut in the middle rounds, and in the eleventh, Johnson began to land at will, and even though Griffin wasn't close to going down, one of his cornermen was on the ring apron waving for a stoppage just as the referee stepped in. Johnson is now 45-11-2 and showed he has learned his lessons well from earlier in his career, when he was criticized for not letting his hands go enough. This bout was an IBF eliminator, so Johnson could get a fourth fight against Clinton Woods, against whom he is 1-1-1. Woods could hardly be blamed for looking elsewhere for a big fight. source: espn2 wednesday night fights
