Johnny Tapia to bid adieu vs. Ilido Julio

Press Release: Multi-division champion Johnny Tapia, 55-5-2 with 28 KO’s, held a press conference to announce the final fight of his storied career. The fight will be held at Isleta Casino and Resort in Albuquerque, NM on February 23, 2007.  Tapia, already a lock for the Boxing Hall of Fame, lost his last fight in September of 2005 and doesn't want to end his career with a defeat.  He will take on Ilido Julio, 33-10-1 with 29 KOs. Tapia said at the press conference that this is for sure his last fight.  With over 60 professional fights, over 200 amateur fights, and a lot of street fights. “It’s time for me to hang up the gloves, but I want to go out with a win and to be on top.
