Johanneson to defend British title vs. Burns

Press Release: On February 9, 2007, Carl Johanneson puts his British 130-pound title on the line against mandatory challenger Ricky Burns, the slick Scottish 23 year old.  Johanneson, 28, and Burns have between them lost only three of their forty career fights and a thriller is in store for Johanneson’s second title defence and coincidentally Burns' second attempt at winning one. Johanneson is 25-2 as a pro. Burns, 15-1, suffered his only loss on points against Alex Arthur when attempting to wrest the European, British and Commonwealth super featherweight titles from his talented countryman. The chief support bout on a high class undercard sees the unbeaten John 'Fireball' Fewkes 13-0 (2) take on the menacing Craig Watson, 7-0 (2), the highly promising Manchester based 23 year old. Also on the card is the second comeback fight of Jason Booth, the former IBOsuper flyweight title holder following his victorious return in November2006. Frank Maloney Promotions presents 'Enemy Invasion' at Leeds Town Hall, Leeds, England on February 9, 2007. Tickets are available at www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508. The event is televised live on Sky TV.
