Johanneson, Fewkes celebrate wins in UK

Press Release: British super featherweight champion Carl Johanneson scored a riveting win over ex-titlist Michael Gomez on Friday night at The Dome in Doncaster, England. The Leeds based slugger also exorcised any lingering demons resulting in his failed bid for the European title against Leva Kirakosyan over the summer with the expert six-round dismantling of Gomez.
Johanneson beat Gomez at his stock in trade, trading vicious body shots and hooks in a torrid example of trench warfare at it's finest. The 29 year old has a resume that none in the country aside from WBO Champion Alex Arthur can match.  Also, John "Fireball" Fewkes handled the educated pressure of strongman Gary Reid. Reid maintained a relentless body attack throughout the eight round contest but could not pin down Fewkes. Just 21 years old and able to fight at anywhere between lightweight and welterweight, the future is bright for The Fireball. Frank Maloney puts on another show this Friday, October 26th at Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England when British light middleweight champJamie Moore will face challenger Andrew Facey in a rematch.
