Joel Casamayor: "If Diaz thinks I'm coming to survive, let's make it winner take all!"

GL: Obviously you're all over Boxingtalk, so I'm sure you're well aware of our recent interview with Juan Diaz. Is there anything you'd like to say in response? "I was disappointed to hear the disrespect he showed to two great fighters, which is me and Marco Antonio Barrera. I don't appreciate that and that will only add to his ass kicking. You know what? I got more than one or two, I got three or four years left in me. The little guy can talk all he wants, but at the end of the day he's got to step into the ring with me. If he's about it we can do it, if not he can keep hiding behind King and Savannah."

GL: If he loses one of his titles does that make it more difficult for him not to fight you?

Joel Casamayor: "Not really because everybody understands that I am the best lightweight in the world. He is the second best lightweight in the world. I don't want to fight him for the belts, I want to fight him for the respect. I proved last year that I was the best and I'm going to keep on proving it. I'm going to knock out Santa Cruz and next year if Diaz is willing to put his money where his mouth is we can put the whole purse on the line. We'll just put the whole purse on the line."

GL: Are you saying you'd fight Juan Diaz in a winner take all fight?

JD: "If he thinks I'd be showing up to survive, we can make the fight winner take all."

GL: How do you feel about him saying you'd just showing up for the payday?

JD: "I thought he was a nice little college boy, but he's been nothing but a disrespectful kid. For him to disrespect Marco like that, Marco did what he had to do. I'm Joel Casamayor. I'm the best lightweight in the world. If he feels that way about me he should be able to run right through me. Come in there and take my belts and take the title that matters. He's been spoon-fed these belts by King and Savannah. When he wants to fight the best I'm always here and I have no need to chase anybody because I'm with the best promoter out there Golden Boy Promotions. These guys are going to have to come see me."

GL: To refresh the fans memories, how would a fight with you and Diaz play out?

JC: "I would dominate the kid and stop him in about five or six. The kid can't punch. He can't crack an egg so I have nothing to worry about. All I would do is come forward and take his head off."

GL: You don't think his pressure would be too much?

JC: "His pressure works with those other guys, and when we stand next to each other I feel like an NBA player. I would just go in there and beat the shit out of him. He has the birth mark on the side of his stomach for me to focus on the kid isn't strong enough."

GL: Closing thoughts?

JC: "Closing thoughts are I just want to salute my man G. Leon at Boxingtalk one time. All my fans across the globe, my Latinos across the globe, I love you and it's going to be a spectacular performance with me beating the shit out of Santa Cruz on November 10."
