Joe Joyce pummels Alexander Ustinov

Joe Joyce KO3 Alexander Ustinov... Joe Joyce, one of a rising crop of British heavyweights, took a step forward in his career, defeating a long-in-the-tooth Alexander Ustinov inside three rounds in a chilly outdoor fight held in Stevenage, England (at time, you could see the boxers' breath).  Joyce is not the quickest heavyweight in the world, and old man Ustinov suited his pacing needs perfectly. Joyce dominated from the outset, causing a cut on Ustinov's forehead in round one. In the third, Ustinov landed one good punch before Joyce proceeded to beat him up steadily. The end came in the third when Joyce landed a hard left to Ustinov's ear. The big Belorussian fell to his knees, where he took a ten count. Joyce is now 9-0 with 9 KOs, but his last three opponents-- Joe Hanks, ex-WBC title holder Bermane Stiverne and now Ustinov, were all well past their best days. (Joyce had additional pro fights in the World Series of Boxing, including a loss to Oleksandr Usyk). Joyce, along with Nathan Gorman and Daniel Dubois represent the future of British Boxing behind Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte. Now working with trainer Adam Booth, Joyce will likely not be rushed into too tough of a fight next even though he is 33 years old. Ustinov, age 42, has now lost three in a row and falls to 34-4. There is little doubt he should retire. source: espn+
