Boxing fans hoping for another superfight involving Joe Calzaghe may have to wait a bit longer. After dominating Jeff Lacy and then pulling out of a summer fight due to an injury, sources close to the situation have informed Boxingtalk that Calzaghe, the world super middleweight champion, is close to signing for a fight against New England's Joey Spina.  Although not finalized yet, the most likely date is October 14, 2006 in either Manchester, England or perhaps Calzaghe's homeland, Wales.  Spina is 19-0-1 but would be a heavy underdog going overseas to face Calzaghe, 41-0. Spina won his last fight by dominant knockout, but it was against forty-one year old Jay Pina, not quite on the same level as Calzaghe, to put it mildly.
