World super middleweight champion gives self 12-month time frame
Less than a week before the biggest fight of his career, a unification bout with Mikkel Kessler, world super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has expressed that he will retire within one year. "I'm giving myself a 12-month span to keep at the top and then I'll let it go. There'll be no comebacks,” explained the man who has held at least a piece of the 168-pound championship for a decade. "I realize I'm getting to that point in my career where you're not going to improve and you slowly decline - that's nature. But I still believe I'm at my peak, I still believe I've got a lot to give, I still believe I've got great fights in me." Calzaghe-Kessler is one of the most anticipated fights of the year and will have major implications for years to come. Source: Times Online UK
