Jimenez hands Escobedo first pro loss

Solo Boxeo report

Daniel Jimenez W8 Vicente Escobedo... Golden Boy prospect Vicente Escobedo suffered the first loss of his pro career, getting dropped by Daniel Jimenez in the final round of a pitched battle that left both men bloody. Officially, Jimenez won the eight round lightweight bout by split decision, but the respected Solo Boxeo broadcast crew thought Jimenez clearly deserved the win.  It was an impressive road win for Jimenez, 13-1-1, who fights out of Puerto Rico. His loss and draw came in his first two bouts, and he has now won fourteen straight.  Escobedo, a 2004 Olympian drops to 9-1 but its far too early to write the 24-year old off just yet. source: Solo Boxeo on Telefutura

Rogelio Castaneda TKO4 Craig Weber... In the Solo Boxeo main event in Sacramento, California, Rogelio Castaneda dropped Craig Weber like a bag of dirt just as the fourth round ended. Weber was in obvious distress but beat the count and wobbled back to his corner. The ringside physician conferred with Weber's trainer and stopped the junior welterweight bout. This was a rematch of a 2004 draw fought in Weber's hometown of Cleveland. This time, Castaneda got to enjoy the homecooking, and it made the difference, allowing him to improve to 22-10-3. Weber falls to 21-2-2. source: Solo Boxeo on Telefutura

Otis Griffin W6 Ernesto Castaneda... Former reality show winner Otis Griffin fought in a swing bout and narrowly beat Ernesto Castaneda by split decision in a six-round light heavyweight contest. Griffin beat the blown up middleweight by scores of 58-55, 57-56 and 56-57. He improves to 12-1-2 but the winner of the Next Great Champion hasn't been able to capitalize on his exposure.  Castaneda drops to 8-5. source: Solo Boxeo on Telefutura
