Knockdowns traded back and forth in Tuscon

Seconds after being knocked to the canvas, bantamweight contender Jhonny Gonzalez landed a left hook that put William Gonzalez down and out in the third round at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tuscon, Arizona. It was a wild bout that saw William down from a right in the first, Jhonny down in the second, William get penalized for hitting Gonzalez while on the canvas, William down from a left in the third, Jhonny down from a left and finally William down and out from Gonzalez's left hook just as the third round ended. Jhonny, still only 23 years old, reached the 30 win plateau against just four losses. He entered the bout at #14 in the Boxingtalk ratings, but will enter the top ten after this, his ninth straight win against an opponent with a winning record. William, 19-2, is rated #26 in the 115-pound category by Boxingtalk. -Scott Shaffer
