Boxingtalk has been informed that appendicitis has forced IBF lightweight champion Jesus Chavez to withdraw from his mandatory defense against Julio Diaz. Although no official ruling has been made, if Chavez doesn't follow through with the bout chances are the IBF will elevate Diaz, currently the interim title holder to champion.
