Jessica Nery Plata W10 Kim Clavel... Boxing fans in Laval, Quebec saw a very close unification bout in the women's junior flyweight division as WBC champion Kim Clavel fighting in her home province, hosted WBA champion Jessica Nery Plata of Mexico. In the end, Plata was treated fairly by the judges, who scored it for her 97-93 (twice) and 96-94. Plata's punches seemed harder and  Clavel finished the fight with a bloody nose. Plata is now 28-2 and owns two of the four belts in her weight class. Clavel is still a viable contender at 16-1.

 

Mazlum Akendiz W10 Cristian Bielma...In the co-feature, Montreal's Mazlum Akendiz dominated a junior welterweight bout in nearby Laval. The southpaw Akendiz handily defeated Mexico's Cristian Bielma over ten rounds by the score of 100-87. Despite scoring three knockdowns, Akendiz said afterwards his only regret was not getting the knockout. Akendiz is now 18-0 while Bielma falls to 19-5-2.
