Jesse Hart targeting Joe Smith Jr fight before the end of the year (PT1)

Part II of must read interview to follow shortly.

Greg Leon: What's the latest and greatest brother? Jesse Hart: "Right now I'm just here waiting to get clearance on my hand, but I believe I'm going to be back in the ring at some time in November. I'm just waiting on the Nevada Commission to clear me and I got a bunch of people who don't know much about boxing thinking I'm suspended for PED's or something when this is just a medical suspension that will be lifted as soon as the Nevada Commission gets my medical report. People don't really know the in's and out's of boxing and love to talk like experts. At the end of the of the day I might not find until the end of the year, but I'm not really worried about it because the hand is feeling better every day and light heavyweight is looking really interesting right now. Your boy (Jean) Pascal took Marcus Browne off the board, Gvozdyk and Beterbiev are going to fight each other, I'm going to fight Joe Smith and Alvarez is going to fight Kovalev."

Greg Leon: I've been hearing that Zurdo could be fighting Alvarez next. If that happens who do you like?

Jesse Hart: "I'd like Zurdo to win that fight and I knew he was going to get the easy route to Kovalev. They're going to give him that route, I'm going to go the harder way, but that's nothing new to me. I would love to fight Alvarez next to get right to Kovalev, but they need to give Zurdo a name at light heavyweight that looks good."

GL: Sounds like you think Kovalev is winning this weekend. (laughs)

Jesse Hart: "I don't think Yarde really thinks he can win the fight. Frank Warren is just putting him in to put him in. They know he's not ready for no f**king Kovalev and if they think he's ready they'll know he wasn't after this weekend. I think he's going to be like a deer in headlights, you'll see. Yarde can run in there with that pitty pat stuff with Kovalev, there's levels to this and he's going to learn that the hard way on Saturday night, just like Marcus Browne did with your guy. (Jean Pascal)

GL: So Joe Smith, the man who knocked your boxing idol Bernard Hopkins out of the ring. Will it be difficult for you to stay disciplined and not let the emotions of what beating him means to you take over?

Check back later to see what the son of The Cyclone Had to say!
