Jeison Rosario talks about his upcoming title challenge vs. Julian Williams

Jesion Rosario, a junior middleweight from the Dominican Republic with a 19-1-1 record will have the opportunity of a lifetime on January 18, 2020. Rosario is scheduled to challenge Philadelphia's Julian Williams (27-1-1) for the WBA/IBF junior middleweight championship. Rosario spoke with Boxingtalk's Ivan Montiel and expressed confidence he would not only beat Williams, but would stop him inside the distance. Here is what the 24 year-old Rosario had to say:

Ivan Montiel: Jeison Rosario how’s everything? Are you in The Republic Dominican or United States?

JR: I am doing very well Ivan.  I am in the United States

IM: Getting ready for IBF/WBA junior middleweight champion Julian “J Rock” Williams?

JR: Yes sir

IM: The last time we spoke, we talked about a possible title fight and it came true... here you are getting ready for a title fight.

JR: Yes of course... Well it’s going to be a tough fight as you all know.  We are preparing 100%. I take nothing away from Julian Williams, he’s a talented fighter.  We got this opportunity thanks to God

IM: What’s your thoughts on Williams win over Jarett Hurd?

JR: Williams looked strong but Hurd is way too big for this division and I believe Hurd’s weight was the problem.  But I am not focused on that fight.  I will be much stronger than Williams on January 18th I will be smarter than Hurd.   Yes, I will fight going forward but at the same time I will be smart about it.

IM: What’s your prediction for the fight?

JR: I am preparing to fight twelve rounds but I doubt this fight will last the full twelve rounds.

IM: You don’t think Julian Williams will be able to absorb your punches? He was able to withstand Hurd’s punches pretty well...

JR: No, I don’t think Julian Williams will be able to absorb my punches for twelve rounds.

IM: Well, I have seen you knock out many of your opponents but Julian Williams has lots of energy. The man never seems to tire.

JR: Yes, Ivan you're right. Williams does indeed have lots of energy and I admit the man is fast but I just cannot see him being able to withstand my punches.

IM: I guess it’s going to be tough training throughout Christmas and New Year’s especially when family and friends are inviting you to have a feast!

JR: (Laughs) No not at all.  This is a blessing.  I cannot think about the upcoming holidays, there will be lots more holidays in the future for me.  This is a fight that doesn’t come around too often.  I will take full advantage of this big opportunity.

IM: Any final message which you would like to say to Julian Williams?

JR: Yes, Julian, I respect you but once we get in that ring it’s going to be a war!  Whomever is able to absorb all the punches being thrown will be the last man standing.
