Jean Claude Bouttier, 1944-2019

The WBC has reported the death of former European middleweight champion Jean Claude Bouttier of France. He died as a result of throat cancer. Bouttier was an extremely active boxer, packing a 64-7-1 career record into a pro career that lasted from 1965-1974. He twice won European honors and holds a win over Hall of Famer Emile Griffith. Bouttier had two world title shots, losses to the great Carlos Monzon in 1972 and 1973. Boxingtalk joins the WBC in sending its sympathy to  the family and friends of Jean Claude Bouttier.
