Jay Larkin named IFL President and COO

The former head of Showtime Championship Boxing, Jay Larkin, has been hired as the IFL President and COO.  The IFL, which stands for the International Fight League, is a mixed martial arts outfit that has a slew of national TV dates on a few nights a week and will now air on Fox Sports Net.   Larkin, a legend in the boxing buisiness, was a major force in developing Showtime Championship Boxing.  In a move that shocked the entire boxing world, Larkin was let go by Showtime last year.   After being let go, Larkin took two of Showtime's biggest fighters, Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe, and brought them to Showtime's principal competitor, HBO.   Now, in the biggest fights of their career, Hatton facing Mayweather and Calzaghe facing Kessler, HBO is enjoying the fruits of Showtime's labor with Larkin having played a major role in shaping the current situation.   For the IFL, Larkin's experience in the TV business and marketing major fights can only improve their current standings in the world of MMA.
