Janiola on deck for Burgos-Grigsby winner

Yesterday, Boxingtalk reported that Jose Victor Burgos would likely defend his IBF 108-pound title against ex-world champion Will Grigsby on the Winky Wright-Felix Trinidad undercard. That match-up threatened to leave mandatory contender Wyndel Janiola of the Philippines out in the cold. Negotiations were underway for Burgos-Janiola but in this post-9/11 security environment, doubts arose as to whether Janiola could get a visa to enter the Unted States in time for the May 14, 2005 date. Boxingtalk has learned that the IBF has approved Burgos-Grigsby on the condition that the winner meet Janiola next. This arrangement adequately protects Janiola's rights, although other rated IBF contenders wont be pleased to see the still-unrated Grigsby get the title shot before them. Still, it will be interesting to see what Grigsby has left after a two-year jail stint.
